Seed Starting Scheduler
To make your seed-starting a breeze, I’ve created two versions of a chart. They will help you schedule when each type of seed needs to be planted indoors and transplanted outdoors.
Version 1: This one lets you note how many weeks before your last frost that you should start each seed.
Version 2: I created this one in 2023 and eliminated the above weeks-before-frost column. I replaced it with “days to maturity.” That’s where you can fill in how long it will take a crop to reach maturity. You should be able to locate that information on your seed packets. This is helpful because it allows you to schedule some succession plantings after a crop has finished producing. That’s much better than leaving the bed empty, right? That’s a great way to maximize the produce coming from your garden.
Version 3: I have to admit this version of the seed-starting scheduler is the simplest to use. It just contains the indoor start date (if relevant), outdoor planting date, and a notes column.
All versions have the “Notes” column. I use that to jot down the number of plants I want to grow. Or if the seeds need special treatment at planting time. Or other pertinent information such as needing to cover a specific crop for insect protection. But you can use it for anything you want. This is a great way to keep your seed-starting on track!
All you need to do is click on one of the links below. You will get a PDF version that you can print out and fill in. I hope you’ll find these forms useful! Have fun planning your garden!
