Seed Starting Scheduler
To make your seed-starting a breeze, I’ve created two versions of a chart that will help you schedule when each type of seed needs to be planted indoors and transplanted out in the garden.
Version 1: This one includes a column where you can note how many weeks before your last frost that you should start each seed.
Version 2: I created this one in 2023 and eliminated the above weeks-before-frost column and replaced it with “days to maturity.” That’s where you can fill in how long it will take a crop to reach maturity. You should be able to locate that information on your seed packets. This is helpful information because it will allow you to schedule some succession plantings after a crop has finished producing, rather than leaving the bed empty. That’s a great way to maximize the produce coming from your garden.
Version 3: I have to admit that this is the version I like the most as it’s the simplest to use. It just contains the indoor start date (if relevant), outdoor planting date, and a notes column.
All versions have the “Notes” column, which I use to jot down the number of plants I want to grow, if the seeds need special treatment at planting time, or any other pertinent information such as needing to cover a specific crop to protect it from damaging insects. But you can use it for anything you want. This is a great way to keep yourself on track!
All you need to do is click on one of the links below and you will get a PDF version that you can print out and fill in. I hope you’ll find these forms useful! Have fun planning your garden!
