May Vegetable Garden Update

This is ‘Bauer’ lettuce, my favorite!

It’s time for my first monthly vegetable garden tour! Each growing season, I get a lot of questions about how everything is growing. This is a great way to actually show you.

So far, we only have cool-season crops planted. That just might change quickly because we are at the start of an unusual warmup. We are going from hard freezes at night up to daily highs in the 70s and 80s! That is crazy.

What’s in the video:

Sometimes, gardeners feel a little baffled as to what to do after planting the seeds. Don’t you worry! In these monthly vegetable garden updates, I’ll share all sorts of helpful gardening tips about growing diverse crops. My goal is for you to have wonderful success at growing your own veggies.

I’m particularly excited about having our vegetable garden well under way. Why? Our freezer is getting emptier as the days go by!

At the top left, you can a photo of the ‘Bauer’ lettuce I’m growing. This is my second year with this amazing variety. Here is a link to the seeds at High Mowing Organic Seeds. The seeds are pelleted. I had heard this could shorten their shelf life but didn’t have any problems at all with this year’s planting.

The photo below (from the video) is of the pak choi and radishes that Bill planted. They are doing great!

If you’d like to see a list of which veggies we’re growing this year, here’s a link to my Susan’s Garden 2024 chart. I hope your vegetable garden is coming along nicely so far. Don’t forget that I’m always happy to answer your questions. Just drop me an email at Susan@SusansintheGarden.com. I’ll get back to you as quickly as possible. You can even send me a note about how great everything is doing!
