Video: How to Store and Use Beets

Today is the start of my new series of videos called “You Grew It, What To Do With It!” And beets are the crop I focus on this week.

For years, I’ve been getting a lot of questions about how we store or preserve our crops. I’m often asked how we cook certain crops. I’ve decided to cover this topic in the coming weeks, since our vegetable garden is done for the season.

My favorite beet varieties are ‘Cylindra’ (sometimes called ‘Cylindrical’) and ‘Golden’. Both have wonderful flavors and they’re super easy to grow. I typically plant them in the spring and let them grow all season long. To be honest, I tend to think of beets and carrots as crops and you can just ignore because they’re so reliable. That way, I can focus on the “higher maintenance” crops!

If you have a crop that you’d like me to focus on, just drop me a note at Susan@SusansintheGarden.com. (Yea, I know it’d be easier if I had comments turned on my website. But you wouldn’t believe the types of messages I used to get!)
