I’ve been very excited to shoot this week’s video because it’s a topic near and dear to my heart. My lifelong goal has been to help you grow bountiful vegetable gardens. In the video, you’ll learn my most important tips for garden success.
If you’re curious about the photo to the left, that is a ‘Sweet Jade’ Kabocha winter squash. They are an All-America Selections winner and I’m growing it for the first time. The photo at the very top is of lettuce leaf basil.
Here are the vegetable gardening tips you’ll learn:
- Why you should start with a simple plan for your first garden or two
- Who to ask for help when a challenge comes your way
- The correct timing for planting vegetable crops, including a special resource
- Ideal amount of sunlight for veggies and examples of shade-tolerant crops
- Why it’s important to space your seeds and seedlings correctly
- Plant flowers to attract more pollinators and beneficial insects
- Why you should never use synthetic pesticides
- Which fertilizer to use, based on the type of crop you want to harvest
- The importance of watering your garden regularly
- Compelling reasons to keep up with the weeds
- Why a garden journal will make you a better gardener!
- There’s even a short blooper at the end of the video, courtesy of some stormy weather
I hope you’ll find this video really helpful. I want YOU to achieve garden success!
