If you’re a regular viewer of my weekly garden videos, you might recall seeing a large bandage on the side of my face in January and February. And that has led to this week’s video about sun protection.

I had surgery for basal cell carcinoma and it was a huge shock to me. As I explain in this video, I had surgery when I was in my early 20s and thought I was doing a (reasonably) good job of protecting my skin. Well, apparently not because at my dermatology appointment in December, my doctor found a spot at my hairline and did a biopsy which came back positive.

I had quite a few stitches and my post-op care was quite painful. I don’t want you to have to go through this. In this video, I share all sorts of sun protection tips that you can use while engaging in your favorite activity: gardening! Although I would also hope that you’ll get into the habit of protecting your skin no matter which outdoor activity you’re enjoying.

Farmer’s Defense farming sleeves are one of the products I’m wearing to protect my arms from getting sunburned. While I don’t have an affiliate relationship with them, I wanted to make sure you knew about them.
