Video: Seed Starting Indoors Pt. 1
Well, today’s a momentous day because the first of my videos on seed starting is now available!
In this one, I cover why this is such a great skill to have. I list the vegetable crops that I typically start indoors and the wealth of information that you’ll find on seed packets. You will also learn about special considerations for starting certain types of seeds and the basic supplies you’ll need.
Next week, I’ll go into more detail about each of the supplies. We’ll go through the steps for planting seeds, and discuss the care of your seedlings once they are up.
A word about sphagnum moss product name
In the video, I mentioned a product called NoDampOff. It is milled sphagnum moss that inhibits the development of damping-off disease on seedlings. I’ve since learned that the product name has changed to SucSeed Organic Seed Starter. It’s still the same product, though. It is available from the Mosser Lee website at this link. Just sprinkle a light layer of it over your planted seed trays rather than use it as a seed-starting medium. I just wanted you to be aware of the name change.
Let the 2024 gardening season begin!
