It’s so much fun perusing seed catalogs!

I’ve got a new video for you to watch! This one is about choosing seeds for your vegetable garden so they’ll perform well in your region. I originally planned to shoot this video in January but decided it would be more timely to do it now. After all, we’re getting seed catalogs in the mail and excitedly planning our 2023 gardens, right?

In this video, I share an important tip that many gardeners aren’t aware of. It has to do with the days to maturity for each vegetable variety. I learned it many years ago and it seems like folks are always surprised to find out about this!

If you’re too excited to wait until watching the video, here it is. We all know that the majority of seed packets list how many days it takes the crop to mature, right? Well, that number applies to WHEN you sow the seeds or transplants directly into the garden. If you start seeds indoors, that period of time doesn’t count. I know, it was a shocker when I first learned this, too.

Here’s the video. I hope it will be helpful when you’re ready to start choosing seeds:

I also wanted to mention that the chart listing the vegetable varieties I plan to grow next year is now on my website. You can find it under the “Guides” menu and the title is “Susan’s Garden – 2023.” But here’s a direct link to it.
