Video: Harvest Leeks
Hey, everybody, I’ve got a new video! This one is about how to harvest leeks, recipes for cooking with them, and how to store them.
You really get your money’s worth when you grow leeks. That’s because you can eat the majority of their stalk. This is the third year I’ve grown ‘Bulgarian Giant’ leeks. The seeds came from Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds and as you will soon see, they are enormous!
Leeks are not difficult to grow. First, give them a very early start indoors (I usually plant my seeds in January). Then plant them in either a trench or put each one into a deep cylindrical hole. You’ll learn more about that in the video because I’m going to give the latter method a try next season.
It’s easy to harvest leeks and even easier to store them so you can use them in soups, stews, and casseroles during the winter. Here’s the video:
Perhaps you grew these awesome vegetables this season but they’re still out in the garden. Well, now is the time to harvest leeks… at least before the ground freezes solid!
I also mentioned my leek-and-potato soup recipe in the video. You’ll be happy to hear that’s in the video below. Would you believe I shot the video way back in 2016? Time flies!
