Video: Seed Starting #2

seed starting, germination test
I think these sprouting bean seeds look cool!

Last week, I shot a very detailed video on Seed Starting Basics. Ordinarily my videos aren’t so long but there was just so much information to share with you! This time, my second video is a more manageable length of about 10 minutes.

For this video, I wanted to follow up with you on how some of the seeds I planted last week are doing. I’ll also show you how our microgreens are growing which was the topic of my video 2 weeks ago. Microgreens are similar to sprouts, except that you start the seeds in soil rather than in a watery environment.

Also in this video, you’ll learn the results of my seed germination test. As you saw last time, the test is really easy to do. This is particularly helpful when you have older seeds and you’re not sure how well they’ll sprout.

And lastly, I’ll provide examples of how I use my seed-starting scheduler worksheets. My goal is to finely tune when I start seeds and transplant the seedlings out in the garden.

If you missed last week’s video, the scheduler is free. It is a downloadable chart to help you get organized. It’s a really simple form but it sure keeps me on track!

In this video, I’ll show you my plans for this year. You’ll also see what last year’s chart looked like after a bit of tweaking to the planting dates. Each year, I pull out the previous year’s chart to quickly map out the current year’s plans. It works great.

OK, here’s my 2nd seed starting video. I hope you’ll enjoy it:
