Ripen Those Green Tomatoes

Boy, I just got a bit of a surprise: the nighttime temperatures here in the Inland Northwest will be dropping significantly by the end of this week. Since we live in an outlying area, it will probably be even colder than the forecast of 34 to 38 degrees. So, of course, my first thought was “I’d better get out in the garden and do some harvesting, especially so I can ripen the last of our green tomatoes!”

Perhaps you’re thinking the exact same thing. If you haven’t done it before, I want to reassure you that it’s really easy. And just to demonstrate this, I shot a video showing you what to do:

Well, what do you think? Is that easy or what?

And just in case you’re curious about the orchard rack I showed you, here’s a link to the same model I have (which I should have called a 6-drawer orchard rack as I forgot to count the top level, oops) on the Gardener’s Supply websiteGardener’s Supply website. They also have a 9-drawer orchard rack. I have to tell you that I’ve had mine for AGES. It is extremely well-built and it is in pristine condition despite the heavy use it’s gotten over the years. And they guarantee everything they sell.

Alrighty, get out there and harvest your green tomatoes if frosts are coming your way, too!
