Fall Banquet Featuring Joe Lamp’l
If you live in the Inland Northwest, you owe it to yourself to attend the Spokane County Master Gardeners’ Fall Banquet on Oct. 10. Why? The keynote speaker is none other than Joe Lamp’l, the creator and host of the popular PBS program, “Growing a Greener World.”
This event is open to all and I wanted to make sure you knew that tickets will go on sale starting tomorrow, Sunday, July 14.
To learn more about the Fall Banquet, which is a fundraiser for our Master Gardener program, go to the website for the Master Gardener Foundation of Spokane County.
I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Joe Lamp’l for years, primarily through the professional organization we both belong to, Garden Communicators International (formerly Garden Writers Association).
But in August, 2016, Joe and his cameraman, Carl Pennington, flew out here from Georgia to film an episode of Growing a Greener World in our garden! We had a lot of fun doing it and I also learned firsthand just how much work goes into shooting and producing an episode. Holy cow. And it didn’t help that it was super hot during the two days of filming.
I have to tell you that Joe is one of the most down-to-earth folks I know and he is passionate about sharing stories of people who dedicate themselves to being environmental stewards. I am certain Joe’s presentation will be engaging and inspiring!
If you’d like to watch our episode, here’s a link to it on the Growing a Greener World website. Enjoy.
