July 8 Column: Coeur d’Alene Garden Tour
It’s time for one of the most anticipated garden tours of the season! The Coeur d’Alene Garden Tour will be next Sunday, July 15, and features six lovely gardens. That’s the subject of this week’s garden column. Here is a link to it in today’s edition of The Spokesman-Review: Coeur d’Alene Garden Tour opens gates to colorful, whimsical North Idaho gardens.
This week’s video can also be seen lower in this post. The topic is flower gardening and in it, I share some of my favorite plants to brighten up the garden.
For my column, I visited the amazing garden of Judy Danner. Over the past 11 years, Judy has been lovingly transforming her garden into a series of garden rooms with different planting combinations and fun garden art. (see additional photos at bottom of this post)
I was particularly taken with all of her gorgeous roses. She thinks she must have about 30 of them, and each plant was healthy and covered with flowers.
Here are the addresses of the gardens on the tour:
Judy Danner, 12691 Emerald Dr., Hayden
Ron and Lynn Houck, 4354 Schilling Loop, Post Falls
Michael and Diana Anson, 1331 N. Glasgow Dr., Post Falls
Bob Bloem and Claudia Lowry, 704 Vintage Ct., Coeur d’Alene
Will and Susan Beglinger, 1028 E. Sherman Ave., Coeur d’Alene

And here is Judy! She has two raised beds filled with vegetables in her side yard, so be sure to check that out as you’re exiting the back garden. I love this idea because it illustrates that you don’t need a lot of space to grow a veggie garden.
Last but not least, here is this week’s “Everyone Can Grow A Garden” video:
