Raised Bed Gardening Class
I wanted to give you advance notice about an upcoming event, since it usually fills up pretty quickly. On March 10, I will be teaching a 3-hour class on raised bed gardening.
It will be held from 9 a.m. to noon in the Spokane County Extension building, 222 N. Havana St. and you can register for the class at this link. The class only costs $12 which goes right into the Spokane County Master Gardener program.
I have to tell you that of all the classes I teach, this is truly my favorite one! For the past 37 years, I have been gardening in raised beds so it’s obviously something that I’m very passionate about. As a matter of fact, I have 26 of them!
In this class, you’ll learn why raised beds are so efficient and productive for growing vegetables (and why they’re less work for you), the best materials to build them with (and the ones to avoid), ways to accessorize your raised beds (for vertical gardening, covering certain types of plantings, etc.), and the best watering methods.
Then I’ll go into the specifics of growing the most popular vegetable crops — organically — in raised beds. All of this is accompanied by plenty of photos from my own garden.
So, if this appeals to you, please register and come to the class! I’d love to meet you and answer any questions you might have about this marvelous way to garden.
