Product review: Adjustable railing planter
For years, I’ve thought it would be fun to have a railing planter (or 2 or 3!) but hadn’t seen any that would work for the type of deck railing we have. Now I’ve found an adjustable railing planter that is perfect and I have to say that it’s one of the best-designed planters I’ve ever seen!
What you’re looking at is a 24″-long planter that adjusts to railings that are anywhere from 1″ to 4 1/4″ wide. To hang it, you don’t need any tools and you don’t have to drill holes in your railing. I like that.
You just set the brackets to the width you need, hang the planter and then (this is my favorite part) you adjust the support bar on the back side of the planter to keep it level. That way, you won’t lose potting soil and water over the edge. The photo in the next paragraph shows what I’m referring to.
This planter is also self-watering, which will keep the plants evenly moist, especially if you have to go out of town for a few days. I’m a huge fan of self-watering containers because they save you time and keep the plants happy. The 24″ model has a reservoir that holds a quart of water. There’s also a 32″ planter that holds just under 2 quarts of water.
Both planters are made from heavy-duty, UV-resistant polypropylene and are manufactured in Italy. They come in white, brown and green. I opted for white since we have white railings.
What do these railing planters cost? The 24″ planter is $29.95 and the 32″ planter is $39.95. You can find them at Gardener’s Supply.
