A Note from Susan

ATTENTION! If you’re on my Blog page and see this “Note from Susan,” scroll below it for access to all my posts… and there are LOTS! (Technical difficulties.)

July 30, 2026 _ Hi, everybody! We’re continuing to experience high temperatures and smoky conditions here in Spokane, Wash. Some areas of our garden seem to be struggling a bit but I’m hopeful things will settle down soon. This spring, I planted a whole bunch of sunflowers in one of our southernmost raised beds and they are really starting to bloom. What’s not to love about a field of sunflowers, right?

It’s time for my next video and I’ve been pretty excited about shooting it. The topic is succession planting, otherwise known as succession cropping. It involves planning ahead so you can replace crops that are done producing with another crop you can enjoy through the end of the season. Here’s a link to my video so you can see exactly how it works: Succession Planting: Harvest More Veggies! I hope you can implement this in your own garden.

Remember to visit the Grow Vegetables section that I created for my website. It is absolutely packed with useful information and tips on all of the most commonly grown crops. Click on the link, above or look for it in the menu bar on any page.

Be sure to check out my Amazon store for the gardening products I use and recommend so you’ll have a great garden season. The 3 books I’ve written are in there, under the “Susan’s Books” category. I receive a small commission but that won’t impact the price you pay.
