July 2, 2026 _ Hi, everybody! Can you believe we’re into the month of July already? I sure can’t. We’ve had cooler temperatures this past week and a bit of rain which is most welcome. This has been a spectacular season for breadseed poppies in our garden. Aren’t these purple ones lovely? The variety is ‘Lauren’s Dark Grape’ and I’d say that’s aptly named!
I’ve got a new video for you and it’s all about the plant disease called powdery mildew: what it looks like, which vegetable crops can be affected by it, how to prevent it from happening in your garden, and how to deal with it if it does occur. You’ll even discover some powdery mildew look-alikes that can freak you out! I hope you’ll find it really helpful as the season progresses and for your future gardens. Here’s a link to it: Powdery Mildew: What You Need to Know.
Remember to visit the Grow Vegetables section that I created for my website. It is absolutely packed with useful information and tips. You can get to my guide by clicking on the link, or look for it in the menu bar on any page.
Be sure to check out my Amazon store for the gardening products I use and recommend so you’ll be ready for the new garden season. I receive a small commission but that won’t impact the price you pay.
