A Note from Susan
Nov. 10, 2024 _ What a beautiful fall we’ve been experiencing here in Spokane, Wash. Our temperatures continue to drop and now the leaves are falling in earnest. But it’s been one of the most colorful falls we’ve had in a few years. The gorgeous leaves in the photo are on our blueberry plants.
Last Thursday, I began a series of new videos called “You Grew It, What To Do With It!” (how’s that for a name, LOL) I get a lot of questions about how to store or preserve certain crops and how we use them in cooking. For my first video, I focused on beets. Here’s a link to it. Carrots will be the feature of my next video; stay tuned for that.
Did you know that I recently created an Amazon store? It has my recommended hand tools, food preservation equipment, garden books (including my own books), seed-starting equipment, organic products and those all important gardener’s must-haves! Here’s a direct link to it. You can also learn more about it on my new Shop page on this website. I won’t recommend something that I don’t use! And yes, I do receive a small commission from any sales but that won’t impact the price you pay.
Have you checked out this year’s “Vegetable Garden Report Card” yet? I have rated how each crop performed for us. You can find it under the “Guides” menu (Vegetable Report Card – 2024). Lots of folks say this is really helpful as they start planning for next year’s garden.
Do you have my book, The Vegetable Garden Problem Solver Handbook, yet? It covers exactly what you need to know to be a successful gardener. In it, I address weather-related issues (including heat and drought), vegetable disorders and diseases, germination and pollination problems, dealing with all sorts of critters in the garden and so much more. To order a signed copy from me, just send an email to Susan@SusansintheGarden.com and I’ll take care of you quickly. If you would prefer to order it directly from Amazon, here is my affiliate link. (I will earn a commission but it won’t affect the price you pay.) Or you can purchase it in my Amazon shop at the link above. Thank you for supporting your friendly author!
